Well, that streak lasted a long time. I’m really going to try and keep up this time. Maybe a five day streak?
I went out to WyCo today. Got eaten alive by oak mites. I’m probably going to contract some horrific disease. I’m running wider bars on the mountain bike (560mm vs 780mm, I think) and I keep hitting crap with my hands. Only crashed twice, though.
Saw my buddy Nick out riding today. I haven’t seen him since I met him out at the downtown airport about 5 months ago. In between then, he got held up by 6 teenagers outside of his house. They stabbed him and stole his truck and went joyriding. He had a collapsed lung and was beaten up pretty badly. The human body is a pretty amazing, resilient piece of work. The fact that he was out riding (and fast) is awesome. I asked him how to get over these tricky set of boulders and he did it pretty fluidly. Right after seeing it, I hopped on my bike and chickened out right before the middle.
Most of the time, if you have a problem with mountain biking, the key is to just go faster.
I’m feeling strong these days. It’ll be interesting to see what my first FTP test shows. It’s going to be indoors, so I know it’ll be low regardless.
